Adlington Rangers had a great battle with Folly Lane, on Saturday, with the result in doubt until the last few minutes.
Both teams had a good defence, but Rangers were first to break through with a kick ahead by scrum-half Paul Dootson, which went over the try line for winger Frank Rogers to touch down.
Richard Wareing struck a fine kick from the touchline through the sticks for the extras.
Folly took to the attack, but Rangers' defence was spot-on with full-bak Gareth McCloughlin pulling off some good tackles and running the ball out.
Rangers' forwards were also running the ball in hard with Tony Fitzgerald making good inroads into Folly's line and the Adlington man even had a try disallowed for double movement.
The other forwards also did well with good tackling from Paul Cookson and Lee Murray.
In the second half, Folly came out and threw everything they had at Rangers, who finally cracked and allowed the visitors to level the scores.

24/03/2007 Adlington Rangers 16 Golborne 52 Defence keeps out Rangers
|
Adlington Rangers played top of league Golborne on Saturday.
They made a good start, passing the ball about, with forwards Paul Cookson and Tony Fitzgerald running hard.
Rangers put all the early pressure on, but Golborne were managing to keep them out with three man tackles stifling all progress.
After a neat kick ahead, Richard Wareing regathered to scoot in for a try, which he goaled to take Rangers into the lead.
This was short-lived as Golbourne raced upfield and cut through weak defending to level.
Golbourne were in their stride and passing the ball well to go in for a second try.
Rangers hit back when Fitzgerald took the ball at pace to scatter the defenders and score - Wareing was on target with the kick to take Rangers back into the lead.

Another defeat for Adlington Rangers |
10/03/2007 Rylands A 54 Adlington Rangers A 4 |
Adlington Rangers A slipped to another defeat, despite drafting in a soldier.
Paul Cadman, a sergeant in the Army, was part of a much changed side that took on Rylands away on Saturday.
Coach Martin Hill said: "Paul played for us for 12 years when he was based at Catterick and would come back every weekend.
"He's a local lad has played for the Army team - if we had more players like him we'd be alright."
For the first half hour it was fairly even, with Adlington's two younger players, Ryan Fitten and Dean Hill, showed up well in defence, and Lee Speakman having a great game.
Constant Rylands pressure paid off when they squeezed in on the wing for the opening try and goal. Rangers then started to make mistakes and tended to hang on instead of passing out.
They were close to Rylands' line on a few occasions but tried barging the line instead of using unmarked players.
Rylands scored again and their more experienced players were finding the gaps. They also had an excellent goal kicker who converted tries from the sideline taking a good lead at the break 30-0.
In the second half it was more of the same, Rangers tiring with non-stop defending.
They finally scored when quick passing put veteran Mark Tongue through for an unconverted try.
Rylands ran out easy winners in the end 54-4, with Lee Speakman man of the match.

Rangers fail to turn pressure into points |
24/02/2007 Adlington Rangers 10 Walney Central 16 |
Rangers started well with the pack led by Paul Cookson making strong breaks.
The ball was being moved quickly through the backs, but Walney defended well and made a few attacks of their own.
Then after another good run by Mike Ferney, the ball went out to Carl Parker, who dummied and then handed on to the supporting Paul Cookson who scored - Richard Wareing adding the conversion.
Rangers were now doing a lot of attacking and after another quick passing movement, full-back Paul Dootson joined the line and squeezed in at the corner.
Wareing's attempted conversion kick bounced agonisingly off the upright.
Minutes later, a dropped pass allowed Walney to break out for a try and add the goal.
Rangers should have pressed home their advantage, but fell back into one man rugby.
Twice they had overlaps, but failed to pass out and were tackled so the chance was lost.
In the second half, both teams were defending well and for long periods Walney were camped on Rangers' line, but could not break through.
Ryan Fitton saved a certain try when he held up a Walney player on the line.
Rangers kept plugging away, but seemed to lose their way when in Walney's 25.
With five minutes to go, they fell for the sucker punch - a dropped ball saw Walney race down the length of the field to score.
With seconds left on the clock, they forced their way over again to finish the game 10-16 and take the points.

In the second half it was all Rangers, with some good defensive work from the young backs Lee Speakman and Ryan Fitton.

Rangers were passing the ball about well and again Cookson dashed through a gap to score.
Wareing added the conversion and then a penalty for a 20-12 lead.
Paul Dootson took the next score - some good passing work sending him through at the corner.
On target Wareing curled the kick from the sidelines for the conversion and added a second penalty kick.
